We are a mother and a daughter. Our goal is to write honest stories about family relationships, love, loss, beauty, and spirituality. We also share about the struggles that surface because of the uncertainty that cancer imposes on both the patient and the caregiver. Kimberly is currently living in Oklahoma to help Alyssa and her family as she recovers from brain surgery and undergoes treatment for Stage IV melanoma. As a result, we share a space physically. We both love to write and saw the value of a ‘shared space’ blog. Our middle names are both Lynn. Lynns on Life is our opportunity to share our views, our questions, and our journeys, through our current lens: our lens on life.
Kimberly grew up in northern Oklahoma and like the song, she truly “belongs to the land.” She is retired from a part-time career in Space Planning and Design; however, she still appreciates beauty in all its many forms, especially the beauty of nature. She is happiest when out of doors, hiking with her husband of almost 40 years, Richard. She raised her family in Arkansas and still marvels at the abundance of evergreen trees that brighten the winter landscape. She is the mother/mother-in-love of three grown children and their spouses, and Nana to four adorable grandchildren.
Alyssa grew up in Little Rock and has a background in theoretical math. She now lives in Norman, Oklahoma, with her husband of nine years, Andre. For the last four years she has stayed home with her two precious boys, and her preciously precocious cat, Ramsey.
Photography by Richard Harper, unless otherwise noted. Richard is a wonderful husband and father and the rock of the Harper clan. An ophthalmologist by profession, photography is one of his many hobbies. He takes most of his photographs while vacationing in his favorite place, the mountains of New Mexico.
