Dear Richard,
Happy 42nd Anniversary! When we married, there was no way for us to imagine what life would bring. Honestly, marriage has been much harder and more beautiful than I could have ever dreamed possible.
As I ponder our life together, practically speaking, our hardest years may well await us. Unknowns will cloud our days and hurt our hearts. We, our adult children, grandkids, elderly parents, friends and extended family will face struggles, disappointments, illness, and death. But we have already faced circumstances that threatened to overwhelm us and our marriage, and yet, here we are. I want you to know, I have great peace within my heart, and I look forward to our future with anticipation.
Because we are learning and growing in love, in honesty, in adventure, in independence, and in interdependence, our marriage is healthier than it has ever been. I know I am happier with US than I have ever been.
